It’s been a while since we talked about Cam Locks.  I thought that I would go over some of the most popular types of cam locks, so that you would have a better understanding of what we have to offer on LsiDepot.com.  The major cam lock types are Cobra Lock, Medeco and Abloy.

Cobra Locks:

The Cobra Lock line is designed and manufactured by Locking Systems International.  There are four different types of cam locks; Cobra 7, CobraMatic 7, Cobra and Cobra SB.  The Cobra 7 and CobraMatic 7 are both protected by US patents and offer key control. They do this by their unique 7-sided lock face and matching key.  The CobraMatic 7  also offers 8 lock code changes that can be preformed by the end user without taking the lock off its mounting.  The Cobra Cam Lock was designed to be able to “Key Into” the locks of our competition, we designed this lock so that our customer can still use their current locks and keys then switch over to get the benefits of the Cobra Cam Locks.  The Cobra SB Cam locks were designed to be compatible with the 54 series SB cam locks.

Medeco locks:

For years Medeco has been the leader in High Security Locks by offering patented protection and key control.  The Medeco cam lock line is no exception.  They come in a variety of sizes and offer a patented keyway and key.  Key codes are registered and maintained by the “Service Center” insuring that no key code is duplicated.   Besides the standard cam lock configuration, Medeco offers these locks in removable core and DuraCam.  With the removable core the end user can remove the cam lock core with a special key, and replace it with a new core.  The DuraCam has the benefit of a super strong key design where the key cuts are on the flat of the key rather then the top.  All Medeco cam locks can have their backs or tenons modified to fit special applications.  Locking Systems International is a Master Distributor and Service Center for Medeco.

Abloy Locks:

Abloy has taken is famous “Rotating Disc” design and incorporated it into their cam locks.  This design provides environmental protection for Abloy Cam locks.  Abloy has patented protection on it’s cam locks by using their new Sentry keyway and key design.  We also offer their older keyways such as the “A”, “CAK”, “EXEC” and others.  These locks come in the most popular sizes.  Locking Systems International Is a master Distributor and Service Center for Abloy.
